National Day of Prayer Thursday May 7, 2009
We attended the event at William Jessup University with 1000 participants. One by one each representative of a people group in America stood up. A soldier, for example shared and led prayers for our servicemen. A policeman shared and led prayers for the salvation of our police force. A politician, businessman, Eric Hoag led the prayers for the media in America.
Our Pastor Ray Johnson 87% of the Protestant churches in America are dying and stagnant. Average person invites someone to church once every 28 years. But Jesus said to “look up. The harvest is ripe” – he ended praying that there would be an “avalanche of compassion to every person at every church.”
A youth pastor and 3 twenty-somethings got up to represent the next generation.
They shared from Ephesians 1:17 “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ the Father of glory give you wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him.”
Their prayers were awesome. I leave you with what I can remember…
They prayed for, “Real encounters, real demonstration of the raw power of God.
“Real Jesus, real miracles.”
That prodigals would return and receive their worth and value
“Purity of teens- heal the ones who have broken purity, broken hearts.
Those who have shame and guilt. Those who are lonely or frustrated. Come to gather with other believers.
That seeds of joy are planted
God breaks chains of heaviness.
That the Holy Spirit speaks to their heart."
